Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao, on Monday, condemned the registration of cases booked against him under non-bailable sections for his alleged provocative remarks.
Talking to reporters, VHR denied all the charges, and said the cases were aimed at tarnishing his image before the Antony Committee.
He said that by registering the cases, Seemandhra leaders are trying to convey the message that Telangana leaders have been provoking the sentiments of people of other regions.
VHR said that he had made the said remarks while replying to questions asked by media personnel. He said the police must procure original tapes of his press conferences.
He remarked that if his remarks were provocative in nature, the police must also book cases against media organisations for broadcasting or publishing them.
He expressed wonder as to how the police had ignored the statement of YSR Congress party leader Sharmila who compared Hyderabad with Pakistan. He complained that while Sharmila was let go scot free, the police in his case took no time to register cases against him.
The Rajya Sabha MP said that he is not afraid of cases as he had faced several such cases during N T Rama Rao's regime.
Reiterating that he had never made any provocative statement, he said that he was the first to counter TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao when he had made certain remarks against Seemandhra employees.
Speaking about the
attack on him at Alipiri, VHR said that the police should expose and register cases against those who had masterminded the attack.
He alleged that the YSRCP is behind the incident, and demanded an unconditional apology from Seemandhra leaders for the attack.
He also condemned the statement of minister T G Venkatesh, who had reportedly opposed the use of the Kurnool highway by Telangana people. (INN)
