In a significant administrative move, the Telangana government has ordered the transfer of 106 engineers Statewide, including over 60 from the Hyderabad circle.
The directive, issued by Principal Secretary of the Irrigation Department, Rahul Bojja, aims to address allegations of misconduct related to the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
The reshuffled officials encompass various ranks, including Executive Engineers (EEs), Deputy Executive Engineers (DEEs) and Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEEs).
This large-scale transfer follows complaints from field-level staff and stakeholders, alleging arbitrary actions and favouritism in the NOC process.
This action is reportedly part of a broader effort to enhance transparency and accountability within the department, and to maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism in all its operations.
This move follows a series of similar actions within the department. Earlier this year, Irrigation Engineer-in-Chief (General) G Anil Kumar was transferred amid allegations of favouritism towards a tainted executive engineer involved in a disproportionate assets case. Also, Chief Engineer K Dharma was relieved of his duties following bribery allegations.
The government has indicated that further actions would be taken if necessary to uphold the integrity of the irrigation sector.
