Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday, called upon the people of the State to unite and wage a war against the government's anti-people policies and schemes.
Talking to media persons in Kakinada on the 2nd day of his 3-day tour of East Godavari district, Naidu said that the TDP would create awareness about problems being faced by the people and wage a relentless fight against them.
The leader of the opposition also took the opportunity to call on women to fight against the menace of liquor in the State. He said that the free flow of liquor was spoiling the lives of the citizens socially and economically. Naidu alleged that liquor syndicates, which won the bids in the recent auction, were selling liquor on pushcarts instead of opening shops.
The liquor syndicates were looting people economically by increasing the price of liquor and violating rules and regulations, the former chief minister said.
Naidu alleged that due to the lackadaisical approach of excise officials, there was no control over liquor traders, who were violating all guidelines by forming syndicates.
Expressing serious concern over the exploitation and harassment of microfinance companies, the former chief minister alleged that DWCRA group women were committing suicides unable to bear their torture.
Demanding action against microfinance firms, Naidu pointed out that the microfinancing system was defeating the very concept of empowerment of rural poor women and diluting the Self-Help Group (SHGs) movement.
