Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & Nalgonda MP Captain N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the unemployment rate had doubled in Telangana after the TRS came to power in 2014.
In a live interaction on Facebook on Saturday, Reddy said that nearly 12 lakh youth in Telangana were jobless in 2014. However, after five years of the TRS regime, the number of educated unemployed youth had doubled to about 24 lakh, he said quoting official figures.
He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had completely neglected the problem of unemployment, one of the major issues in the statehood movement. He said that KCR had promised to provide one job for each family, but the promise had remained unfulfilled - instead, lakhs of existing jobs were lost in the TRS regime.
The TPCC chief claimed that he had identified the problem of unemployment long back and had ensured that the local youth got jobs in cement and other factories in Huzurnagar, which he represented. He promised that going forward he would also establish a Skill Development Centre of international standards in Huzurnagar to impart training to the local youth, from his funds as Member of Parliament. He said that the Centre would open up new employment opportunities for the local youth of the constituency.
Reddy also promised a sports stadium in Huzurnagar, with a gymnasium and a swimming pool. National-level Kabaddi competitions would also be organised in Huzurnagar soon, he claimed.
Reddy ridiculed the promises being made by TRS leaders of bringing development to Huzurnagar if the TRS won the seat. He said that several TRS MLAs were on record in the Assembly complaining of lack of funds to develop their constituencies. More development was actually being witnessed in constituencies represented by opposition MLAs, and Huzurnagar and Kodad were live examples of such development, he claimed. Opposition MLAs could fight with the government to get more funds, projects and schemes for their constituencies, he said. He accused the TRS leaders of spreading wrong notions and narratives to mislead voters.
