The Telangana government today offered to allow applications for the regularization of lands and buildings in the HMDA, GHMC and other limits under the illegal occupation of people, in the next two months.
The process of regularization will be complete in six months.
While slum-dwellers can pay a meagre amount of Rs 5 per sq yard, others have to pay more.
The regularization is likely to fetch Rs 1,000 crores in revenue for the government, it is learnt.
The regularization was meant for the welfare of the poor and slum-dwellers, who could get their lands and structures legally registered in their own names, Commercial Taxes minister T Srinivas Yadav said at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.
Yadav headed a committee on the issue and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had approved its recommendations.
Yadav said that the regularization was good news for people, and that they needed to apply online by paying Rs 10,000.
Penal action would be taken against those who did not make use of the window, he warned.
Layouts, plots and buildings or structures illegally occupied as of October 28 will be considered for regularization.
Building regularization charges are Rs 12,500 for areas of upto 600 sq mt, Rs 25,000 for areas from 601 to 1,200 sq mt, Rs 40,000 for 1201-2000 sq mt, and Rs 60,000 for 2,000 sq mt and above. The charges vary for domestic and commercial buildings.
Layout and plot regularization charges are Rs 200 for areas upto 100 sq mt, Rs 400 for 101-200 sq mt, Rs 600 for 301-500 sq mt and Rs 750 for 500 sq mt and above. The charges are Rs 5 per sq mt in slums.
Layouts made and buildings occupied illegally after October 28 will face criminal cases and action through the enforcement wing after the cut-off date of October 28.
