BRS activists today came down heavily on the Congress, which had earlier opposed the LRS and claimed that it would regularise the land free of cost, but which they claimed was now going back on its promise.
BRS leaders and activists across the State undertook protest programs as per the instructions of the party working president K T Rama Rao, against the LRS.
Dharnas and rasta rokos were held by the party activists at various places.
They demanded that the LRS be made free as promised by the Congress, and said that they would fight against the government on behalf of the people until it was implemented free of cost.
As part of the agitation, the pink party staged a dharna at the HMDA office in Ameerpet on Wednesday morning. Former minister and current MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, MLA Vivekananda Goud, BRS Secunderabad Parliamentary in-charge Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav and BRS city leaders participated in the dharna.
Speaking on the occasion, Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the Congress government would not be spared till the LRS was abolished.
He alleged that the State government was conspiring to impose a financial burden on 25 lakh poor families through the LRS, amounting to Rs 20,000 crore, and accused the Congress of hatching a conspiracy to loot the poor.
