Two brothers from Hyderabad today tried to commit suicide right outside Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's camp office, the Pragathi Bhavan. They alleged that they had been driven to take the drastic step as a result of the harassment of the Pet Basheerabad CI.
The duo reached the camp office at about 1:30 pm, half-an-hour ahead of a Cabinet meeting. They were identified by the police as Suresh Kumar and Narsing Rao.
While Narsing Rao tried to immolate himself by using kerosene, Suresh Kumar tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of Finance Minister T Harish Rao's convoy. The minister was making his way to the Cabinet meeting being held on the premises. However, the Panjagutta police foiled both attempts.
Despite the prompt intervention of the police, the incident did result in slight traffic congestion around the area, and forced minister Harish Rao's convoy to halt temporarily.
Reports say that they were involved in a property dispute over land within the Pet Basheerabad police station limits, and had claimed that the CI who was harassing them had connived with a builder to "deny" them justice.
The two brothers were taken to the police station after their suicide attempts were foiled.
