Karimnagar Two Town Sub-Inspector D Chandrasekhar Yadav, 36, today died by suicide at his mother-in-law's residence in Seethampeta village, Karimnagar district.
The incident occurred just four days after the death of his wife, Divya, who also died by suicide.
Reports indicate that Chandrashekhar's decision was driven by profound grief over his wife's passing, and was also compounded by rising suspicions surrounding the circumstances of her death.
Divya, a resident of Seethampeta, had married the SI in 2016. On Tuesday, March 17, her husband followed his usual routine, dropping their two children at school before proceeding to work. Earlier that morning, Divya had allegedly consumed a mixture of oleander flowers and leaves to kill herself, reportedly due to severe abdominal pain. She later contacted her parents to inform them of her step. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Hyderabad by her husband, she succumbed during treatment.
Following her death, Divya's relatives reportedly accused Chandrashekhar of being responsible for her suicide and attempted to confront him. Her funeral rites were eventually conducted by her parents amid protests from villagers and relatives.
Chandrashekhar had reportedly visited his in-laws' house for the fifth-day ritual. When he did not come out of his room, family members grew concerned. Upon checking, they found him hanging. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Jammikunta, where doctors declared him dead.
The couple have two chldren.
