The decision by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) officials not to allow Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu hold a press conference within the premises of the Padmavathi Guest House in Tirumala on Wednesday, opened up a new opportunity for the TDP to attack the government.
Taking umbrage at this decision, TDP leaders in general, and party senior Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu in particular, claimed the existence of a 'conspiracy' behind the decision of the temple authorities.
TDP party activists staged a protest saying that permission to hold a press meeting at the guest house was given to Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi, and demanded to know why Naidu was being denied of such an opportunity.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam officials, meanwhile, washed their hands off the issue, and said that the specified authority had already made it clear that henceforth no press conferences by any political party will be allowed at any guest house of the temple.
