Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Sunday said that he is ready to face any punishment if it is proved that he is involved in any irregularities while carrying out his duties in the TTD.
Talking to media persons, the former TTD chairman said that he never violated any rules and regulations and hence has nothing to fear. He also said that he himself asked for an inquiry into the allegations against him, and that he is ready to face any probe - either a judicial inquiry or investigations by the CBI- since he wanted his name to be cleared.
Karunakar Reddy was speaking after submitting a memorandum to the office of Governor E S L Narasimhan. He had earlier tried to meet the Governor without appointment, but was informed that he could not do so. Karunakar Reddy then submitted his memorandum to the officials present there.
Indirectly referring to former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the former TTD chairman said that he was being targeted by some people for their own political benefits.
Karunakar Reddy was successor to T Subbirami Reddy as the chairman of the TTD Board in August 2006. He was considered a close confidante of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, and now of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
Karunakar Reddy's sister-in-law was removed from the post of Vice-Chancellor of the Sri Krishnadevaraya University only recently. Kusuma Kumari's removal had angered the Jagan camp, which feels that the supporters of the Kadapa MP are being targeted one after another, due to their loyalties to YSR's son.
