Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi, on Friday, stated that Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana was a scapegoat for the "unilateral" decisions taken by former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's cabinet.
Talking to media persons at the Visakhapatnam airport, on his way to Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district, to participate in the by-elections campaign, Chiranjeevi expressed regrets over Mopidevi's arrest, and termed it as "unfortunate".
He expressed confidence that Mopidevi would come out clean from all the allegations. He said that the CBI must verify Mopidevi's signatures on the controversial GOs to ascertain whether they were given under YSR's coercion.
Stating that there was no need for the Congress to conspire with the Telugu Desam Party to arrest Jagan, he alleged that Jagan wants to get mileage in the by-elections using his arrest and creating law-and-order problems. He pointed that YSR Congress leaders have already issued threats stating that the state would "boil" if the CBI arrests Jagan.
Chiranjeevi said that ministers and IAS officials were now languishing in jails due to Jagan's greed. He called upon voters to teach corrupt leaders a fitting lesson in the ensuing by-elections. (INN)
