Hyderabad | 5th August 2023
Demanding that Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan give her assent to the draft Bill for merger of the TSRTC into the Telangana government, members of various RTC unions and employees staged a protest at the Raj Bhavan today.

Protesting the Governor's delay in giving her approval to the Bill, the RTC workers' unions had announced a two-hour protest from 6 AM to 8 AM across the State.

As part of their protest, some RTC employees gathered at P V Marg adjoining Necklace Road and proceeded to stage a protest at the Raj Bhavan. However, when the employees came close to the Raj Bhavan, the police foiled their to lay siege to the Raj Bhavan.

At the time of the protest the Governor was not in the Raj Bhavan, and the Raj Bhavan staff allowed the union leaders to speak with her through video conference.

During the video conference, Dr Soundararajan clarified that the approval of the draft Bill had been delayed as there were some legal issues that needed to be studied before taking a decision.
