Wooing the TRS second-rung leaders and activists with a career path to being candidates in the upcoming elections to local bodies, caretaker minister K T Rama Rao today appealed to them to ensure votes for T Rajaiah and enable a TRS victory in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking at an election campaign meeting at Station Ghanpur in Warangal district, KTR dangled the carrot of being future leaders before the party's rank and file. The Supreme Court had directed the state to hold gram panchayat elections in three months, and "the next TRS government" would give a chance to the leaders in waiting during these polls, he announced amid applause. The TRS leaders in the villages, towns and districts would be the candidates for the local body elections and contest to be MPTCs, ZPTCs and others, he said.
KTR slammed the Congress for coming up with a sole agenda of dethroning the TRS regime. A demoralized Congress had no other option but to forge an alliance, and even the alliance was not working out as the allies were not happy with the party's seat-sharing proposals, and were mulling over whether to go along or not.
"Let us defeat the Congress nominees so badly that they lose their deposits and also their allies," he said.
KTR also said that the people who believed in welfare and progress should vote for the TRS and bless KCR's leadership. If they voted for the alliance, they would face the same old problems like power cuts, non-completion of projects, corruption and low pensions, he claimed.
