BRS working president K T Rama Rao today launched a scathing attack on the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging political degeneration through rampant defections and false promises.
Addressing a felicitation meeting of newly elected sarpanches, deputy sarpanches and ward members of the party at the district party office, KTR accused the Congress of normalising defections to retain power, thereby eroding democratic values. He also alleged that the Speaker was ignoring violations.
Taking a swipe at the defecting MLAs, too, he claimed that they had lost ideological clarity.
He claimed that the people were increasingly disillusioned with the Congress governance and were responding with decisive support for the BRS.
KTR also said that the State was being run on loud claims and hollow promises, citing delays in the Rythu Bandhu scheme payouts and unmet welfare assurances. He reiterated that welfare schemes were people's rights, not Congress largesse.
He also alleged vindictive politics and violence against BRS workers, particularly in the Nalgonda region, and accused officials of manipulating recounts in several villages. The party, he said, would seek legal remedies.
Speaking about the panchayat election results, KTR said that the BRS had won 161 sarpanch seats in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, calling it a clear signal of the party's resurgence. Contrasting the Congress governance with the BRS' record under K Chandrashekar Rao, he said that the past achievements in irrigation, power supply, healthcare and farmer support remained the benchmark, and expressed confidence that the BRS would soon reclaim political ground across Telangana. He urged party cadres to prepare for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections with full vigour.
