BRS working president K T Rama Rao today said that the municipal election results indicated growing public support for the party and reflected increasing dissatisfaction with the Congress government.
Addressing the media, KTR said that despite the misuse of administrative machinery and money power by the ruling party, the BRS secured significant victories and emerged as a key political force in several urban local bodies.
Unlike the traditional trend of local elections favouring ruling parties, the electorate had delivered a strong message, with the BRS winning around 15 municipalities and emerging influential in several others across the State, he claimed.
The BRS leader recalled that in the recent panchayat elections, nearly 40% of gram panchayats and over 4,000 sarpanch posts were won by BRS-backed candidates. He said that the municipal results had now further strengthened the party's position.
Comparing the outcome with the 2020 municipal elections, KTR said that while the then TRS had won 122 mayor and chairperson posts out of 130, the BRS had now directly won over 15 municipalities and emerged as the single-largest party in 10 to 15 others, where it held decisive influence. Overall, he described the results across 117 municipalities as positive and politically significant.
KTR also alleged post-election attempts by Congress leaders to lure elected representatives, and said that the BRS would counter such moves both politically and legally.
Thanking the cadre and supporters, he said that the results reaffirmed the BRS as the principal opposition force capable of challenging both the Congress in Telangana and the BJP nationally.
