It seems that the TRS' jubilation at its recent victory in the elections held in the graduates' constituencies of Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam and Hyderabad-Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy is destined to be a short-lived one. Amongst other
allegations of election malpractice, BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar today also levelled a series of accusations against the ruling party, and alleged that its leaders had threatened the graduate voters in the two constituencies in order to secure votes.
Speaking to the media on the matter, Kumar said that though the BJP had lost the two seats, it had registered a "moral victory" in the elections.
"The people of the state are aware of the reasons behind the TRS' win in the recent elections. We know that the party was reduced to spending crores of rupees on buying votes, and that the it coerced the leaders of the state's employee unions to vote for its candidates using the PRC issue. The BJP will respond to this unfair victory soon. After all, the very fact that the ruling party had to resort to underhand means to secure the two MLC seats is a victory for our party. The TRS had to do all this since it was filled with fear seeing the
huge rise in our vote share in the GHMC elections held last year," he claimed.
The leader also claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had spent many a sleepless night thinking of the BJP's growing popularity in Telangana, and fearing for the fate of his own party.
Further, he mocked the pink party for "using" the legacy and pictures of a Congress leader, former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, to win the MLC seats, and asked, "Have the CM and the TRS' candidates won the elections, or was it PVNR's pictures that did the trick?"
Referring to the recent
communal clash in Nirmal district's Bhainsa, the BJP big shot added that this victory would not be enough to make the people of the state forget the incident.
He then spoke about the upcoming by-election in the Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency, and asserted that the lotus party would win the seat with its confidence.
When questioned on his use of foul language against the CM, Kumar said the latter had taught him to speak in that fashion.
