The TRS won another landslide victory in a municipal election, when it won 22 wards out of 34 in the elections to the Siddipet municipal corporation.
Of the 22 seats, six were won unopposed.
Others who won included 7 independents (mostly TRS rebels), 2 Congress candidates, 2 BJP candidates and one MIM candidate.
Extending thanks to the people for reposing their faith in the TRS, minister Harish Rao asked the members-elect to work for development, irrespective of their Party affiliations.
He also stated that he would try to get adequate funds for Siddipet's development, and vowed to fulfill all the promises made by his Party.
Due to the delay in conducting its elections, the Siddipet civic body did not get funds from the 14th Finance Commission, he said. "As the election code now ends, I will now try to get the funds," he added.
In a related development, an IAS officer Dinakar Babu faced a bitter experience at the counting centre. The local officials failed to identify him and prevented him from entering the counting centre. Irked at this, Babu expressed anguish and displeasure at the officials for not being able to recognize him in spite of his coming in a government vehicle.
Later, the officials, who established his identity, finally allowed him into the counting centre.
