Stating that the Srikirishna Committee's report, expected by 31 December, will only dwell on whether the conditions are conducive or not for the bifurcation of the state, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said that his party would not take the report seriously enough to stop its agitations.
Addressing a gathering at the Emergency Steering Committee meeting of the Telangana JAC at
A V College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Domalguda, KCR said that the TRS would not take the report seriously even if it is favourable to the aspirations of the people of Telangana.
KCR asked the centre to stand by the announcement made by union home minister, P Chidambaram, on 9 December 2009, in which he said that the process for forming a separate Telangana state had been set in motion.
The TRS chief also called on the party cadre, telling them not to bother about the deployment of central forces in the Telangana region, and asked them to proceed with pushing for a separate state.
The Telangana protagonist urged the various JACs to make efforts to take the agitation to the grassroots level, and to create awareness among the people.
KCR also requested various leaders not to give calls for bandhs without taking the JACs into confidence. He further asked the JACs in all villages and mandals to introduce and pass resolutions, calling for the formation of a separate state in their respective local bodies, after 31 December.
KCR said that after the submission of the Commission's report, the TRS will give the centre a deadline of 10 days to make an announcement. If the centre dilly-dallies, the TRS would picket district collectorates on 10 January 2011, he stated. He added that the agitation would further intensify, with 'Raasta Rokos' being planned for 17 January 2011.
If these attempts fail to get the centre to react, the party would begin hunger strikes from 21 January 2011, and from February onwards, the TRS would launch a non-cooperative movement, KCR warned.
However, this course of agitation would be ratified after consulting the OU-JAC within 2 days, the TRS chief stated.
Political JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram, TRS leader Nayani Narsimha Reddy, BJP senior leader Vidyasagar Rao, and students' leaders were present at the meeting.
