With just a few days left for the Srikrishna Commission to submit its report, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao said on Saturday that he was ready to dissolve the TRS and merge it with Congress if the demand for a separate state was fulfilled.
The statement was made at a meeting of Telangana Group-1 officers in response to MP Sarve Satyanarayana's suggestion that KCR should join Congress and lead his movement for Telangana.
Replying to the MP, KCR said, "TRS is not a regular political party. It was formed for a cause. Once that cause is achieved, there is no need for the party to exist."
KCR even said that he was ready to wash the feet of Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi if she granted Telangana state.
Though KCR had earlier promised to work towards strengthening the ruling party Congress in the event of Telangana being formed, this is the first time that he has categorically stated to merge with Congress if his party's cause was achieved.
KCR also blasted Congress Telangana leaders because of their fear of the wrath of the High Command. He said, " If the Congress Telangana leaders had any guts, they would have pressurised the High Command to introduce the Telangana bill in the budget session of Parliament. Why are they so afraid to resign, when their Seemandhra counterparts do not have such fears?"
The TRS chief threatened that he would stage a fast unto death if the process of carving out Telangana from the state is delayed.
