TRS To Rebrand Old City As "Asli Hyderabad"

Sending a strong message of its arrival in the Old City, the TRS admitted several workers, including women, belonging to different parties, into its fold.
Hyderabad | 22nd January 2015
Sending a strong message of its arrival in the Old City of Hyderabad, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday admitted several workers, including women, belonging to different parties, into its fold.

The TRS leaders claimed that over 2,500 people, including 1,000 women, joined the TRS on Thursday. They included workers and local leaders of Congress, TDP and the MIM, it said.

The TRS leaders also announced that they would reach "all the lanes and by-lanes of the Old City" to convey the information about the various welfare schemes being implemented by the TRS government in the State.

They also promised to bring back the lost glory of "Asli Hyderabad" (as they referred the Old City).

They also named a huge building at Etebar Chowk on Mir Alam Mandi road as TRS Bhavan, and claimed that the TRS was the only party to have such a large office in the entire Old City.

For today's event, huge cut-outs, banners and pink flags were erected on all the roads leading to TRS Bhavan. Huge banners in English and Urdu, highlighting different schemes like the 12% Muslim reservation, Shaadi Mubarak, KG to PG free education etc., were erected around the TRS Bhavan.

Welcoming the people into the TRS fold, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali claimed that only the TRS government could bring development ito the Old City.

He assured that all the promises made by the TRS in its manifesto would be fully implemented. He said that KCR was firm on giving 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education, and that this policy alone would benefit lakhs of Muslims in the State.

He also spoke about the successful implementation of several welfare schemes. Talking about the Shaadi Mubarak scheme, he said that the TRS government had provided major relief to poor Muslim parents by offering them Rs 51,000 at the time of their daughters' marriages.

Similarly, priority was being given to the weaker section housing scheme, and the recent decision to regularise illegal houses on up to 125 sq yards of government land free of cost would benefit hundreds of poor people.

Speaking on the occasion, TRS Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency incharge Rashid Shareef informed that the TRS planned to reach every lane and by-lane of the Old City to apprise the people about its various welfare schemes.

He said that the TRS government had allocated Rs 1,030 crores in the State budget for minorities' welfare, and with Hyderabad being a district with a high minority concentration, the Old City residents were bound to benefit the most from the welfare schemes. However, the information about the various schemes needed to be conveyed properly to the deserving beneficiaries.

So far, he said that the TRS workers had been able to get pensions for about 4,500 deserving beneficiaries, and that hundreds of applications had been forwarded under the Shaadi Mubarak scheme.

Rashid Shareef announced that the TRS would conduct meetings in all divisions of the Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency to create awareness among the people about the TRS government's welfare schemes. He said that a division-wise survey had already been initiated to identify the problems being faced by the people in the Old City, and its findings would be segregated to make representations to various departments and ministries.

Since "Brand Hyderabad" would be incomplete without bringing development to the Old City, he said that the TRS would restore the lost glory of "Asli Hyderabad". (INN)
