Telangana BJP head Bandi Sanjay Kumar today launched his Praja Sangrama Padayatra amid much fanfare in the presence of a sea of supporters.
The padayatra was launched from the Bhagya Lakshmi temple in Hyderabad's Old City area where Kumar performed prayers before launching the march.
Addressing a public meeting near Charminar during the launch, the BJP chief said that he had embarked on the padayatra to instil confidence among the people of the state, and claimed that the yatra would usher in a change in the political arena of Telangana.
Targeting the TRS-led state government, he then alleged that the state was witnessing the "nepotistic" rule of one family, which, he thundered, went "completely against" the dreams and aspirations of the 1,400 people who had sacrificed their lives for the formation of Telangana.
"No section of society is happy under the rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The CM has just been biding his time in office by misleading the public. He has cheated the people of our state by breaking all his promises - he has failed to provide free urea to the farmers and has not provided employment to the unemployed youth. Further, he has still not launched the long-promised unemployment allowance in the state. I also wonder why a 12% reservation for the STs hasn't been introduced so far. It is clear that the CM has taken no steps to support either the unemployed youth or any other section of society even after seven years of being in office. Now he has come up with ways to cheat the SC and BC communities too. The Dalits are being duped in the name of the Dalit Bandhu scheme while the BCs are being duped through promises of sheep and cattle distribution programs. With his misrule, the CM has turned our state into a state of suicides," Kumar alleged.
Next, the leader targeted the MIM and claimed that the Hindus of the Old City were being subjected to much harassment by the party. He urged the Hindus, who had migrated from the area to their native place.
Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy also spoke on the occasion. Voicing his agreement with Kumar, he stated that there was a need to bring to an end the KCR family's rule of the state.
Likening the CM's regime to that of an "erstwhile Nizam ruler", the minister claimed that the rule of KCR was characterised by corruption and nepotism, and termed the Praja Sangrama Padayatra as a march which would unseat KCR.
State BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh spoke during the program as well and claimed that there was a need to "liberate" Telangana from the "clutches of KCR". He alleged that the CM's rule could be called the "rule of Alibaba and his 40 thieves".
Party leaders D K Aruna, Vijayashanti, and K Laxman were among those who were present on the occasion.
