TRS MPs today created pandemonium in Parliament by staging protests demanding powers to the states to decide on reservations themselves.
Parliament, as is the custom, offered condolences to the MPs who had recently passed away, given it was the first day of the budget session after the presentation of the budget, in the morning, and the Speaker Sumitra Mahajan then took up Question Hour. The TRS Parliamentary Party then submitted a resolution to her urging her to take up a debate on the "crucial" issue of reservations.
As expected, the Speaker declined, which prompted the TRS members to stage their protest and storm into the well of the House. As the MPs did not withdraw their protests, the Speaker adjourned the House to 12 noon.
TRS leader in the Lok Sabha Jithender Reddy said that the party's MPs would rake up the issue of reservations in Parliament during the entire budget session. He told media persons in Delhi that the TRS MPs had decided to question the government on various issues, including reservations and the bifurcation promises. The Centre was enacting "dramas" on the implementation of the provisions of the AP Reorganization Act, he alleged.
