National BC Welfare Association Gives Chalo Parliament Call
The association is demanding that the union government introduce the BC Bill in Parliament and also provide 50% reservation for BCs in the legislature.
The National BC Welfare Association has decided to organise a Chalo Parliament program on February 5 and 6, demanding that the union government introduce the BC Bill in Parliament and to provide 50% reservation for BCs in the legislature.
A total of 14 BC organisations jointly organised a meeting at the BC Bhavan in the city today and decided to hold a mass demonstration at the Parliament building in New Delhi on February 5 and 6.
Addressing the meeting, Rajya Sabha Member R Krishnaiah said that about 70 crore people in India belonged to the BC community, but were being denied their due share since the independence of the country.
He also made other demands, including the conducting of a caste census, an increase in reservations from 34% to 52% in Panchayat Raj institutions, and reservations in promotions.
Krishnaiah said that people in large numbers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi were expected to take part in the agitation.
