Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today pilloried the TRS and the MIM for forging a "secret pact".
The leader's comments were prompted by the MIM's decision to support the candidates fielded by the TRS for the posts of GHMC Mayor and Deputy Mayor in today's elections for the same.
Expressing his anger over the decision, he said that the elections had finally revealed to the public the "secret alliance" of the TRS and the MIM.
"The BJP has pointed out in the past as well that the two parties are secret allies. Today, their conduct during the mayoral election has only confirmed the suspicions of many," Kumar said.
"The TRS would not have crossed even the single-digit mark if it did not have the support of its ally, the MIM. The two parties are now hatching plans to loot the state capital together," he added.
The BJP bigwig then warned the two "allies" to refrain from resorting to any form of corruption, and said that his party would not tolerate such practices.
BJP MLA from Goshamahal T Raja Singh also lashed out at the two parties.
Commenting on the
the victory of the TRS in today's elections, he said that the residents of the state capital had witnessed "the collusion" between the parties, and would not forget the incident for years to come.
"The TRS has axed its own foot by taking help from the MIM. The ruling party will now have to pay the price for its mistake in the coming Assembly elections," he said.
The MLA attacked the MIM leaders for not contesting the elections, and asked them what, if not their alliance with the ruling party, had prompted them to take such a decision.
Singh also alleged that the two posts had been won by "two thieves" - the TRS and the MIM.
The allegations are unlikely to affect the TRS' victorious mood today. After all, the party successfully clinched the posts of both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor.
While Banjara Hills corporator Gadwal Vijayalakshmi was appointed the Mayor, Tarnaka corporator Srilatha Sobhan Reddy won the Deputy Mayor post.
