Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy accused caretaker Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao of copying all the important points of the Congress manifesto.
"The Congress has won the elections even before the polling on December 7. By copying almost all points from the draft manifesto of the Congress, KCR has implicitly conceded defeat. While the Congress came up with proposals like doubling the Aasra pension amount after getting feedback from the people, KCR has simply copied it and just added Rs. 16 to suit his superstitious beliefs in numerology. Similarly, KCR has also copied the promise of unemployment allowance to the jobless youth and just added Rs. 16 to the Rs. 3,000 promised by the Congress. By doing so, KCR has not just proved himself a copycat, but also displayed his mental bankruptcy," said Reddy.
Reddy also said that the Congress had promised to reduce the eligibility age for the old age pension to 58 years to being it on par with that for government employees, and to beat that, KCR had reduced the age by one more year to 57, which was completely illogical.
"All of that does not matter anyway. KCR has already lost the people's trust and no one believes him anymore. He did not fulfil any of the promises he had made in 2014, and all the promises he is making now will meet the same fate," Reddy claimed.
The Congress leader also ridiculed KCR's contention that a PRC for government employees was not announced due to the Model Code of Conduct in place. "KCR had promised to announce an Interim Relief (IR) on June 2, the Telangana Formation Day. He had also announced the setting up of a new PRC with a mandate to submit its report a week before August 15 this year so that the announcement could be made on Independence Day. KCR missed these deadlines and dissolved the Assembly on September 6. He should then be ashamed of himself for making such a false claim. The 4 lakh employees and 2.5 lakh pensioners are not blind or insane to trust KCR's words," he said.
"It is also strange that the TRS manifesto was announced by KCR himself and not by K Keshava Rao, the chairman of the manifesto committee. This shows that the TRS is an individual-centric and family-centric party," Reddy said.
