TRS MLA K Taraka Rama Rao, on Tuesday, appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to allocate Rs. 500 crore in the state Budget 2012-13 to rescue Gulf victims.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, he said that lakhs of people from the state, particularly from north Telangana, were going to the Gulf for livelihood, and that they were facing problems due to unemployment.
Several people are dying, and their families living in penury, he said, and urged the government to take steps for rehabilitating them by establishing a special fund.
Expressing disappointment over allocating Rs. 1 crore in the state budget for the victims of the Gulf, he urged the government to increase the funds for their rehabilitation.
He also appealed to the government to appoint a special department, on the lines of other states, to look into the problems being faced by people working in Gulf countries. (INN)
