BRS working president K T Rama Rao today alleged that the State government was acting in a vicious manner against the unemployed youths who were agitating for the fulfilment of their demands, getting them detained and arrested by the police.
KTR condemned the arrest of student leaders, including Rajaram Yadav, who tried to lay siege to the Secretariat for the fulfillment of the students' demands, and accused the police of misbehaving with Rajaram Yadav.
KTR said that the government, which had promised to eliminate the problem of unemployment when it came to power, had now left the jobless to the wind, and was in addition clamping down on their legitimate protests. He asked if bringing issues to the notice of the government and agitating peacefully was also banned in the State now.
"In the last few days, this government has been adopting a repressive attitude towards the students and the unemployed, which is not good at all. All the student leaders, including Rajaram Yadav, who have been arrested by the police should be released unconditionally," he said.
"If the demands of the students and the unemployed are not addressed, the unemployed people who brought the Congress to power will bring about its downfall, too. If the government takes such stubborn stands without considering the demands of the unemployed, the BRS will launch a large-scale agitation in the State," he added.
