TRS, BJP Offering Munugode Voters Money And Liquor: Congress

Congress MP & former TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS and the BJP were trying to lure Munugode's voters with money and liquor.
Hyderabad | 28th September 2022
Congress MP & former TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the TRS and the BJP were trying to lure the voters of the Munugode Assembly constituency with money and liquor in view of the upcoming by-elections.

He was speaking to media persons after unveiling the statue of Congress leader Chinna Mallaiah in Huzurnagar on Wednesday.

Reddy, who is also in charge of the Choutuppal mandal of the Munugode Assembly constituency, said that the Congress had intensified its campaign at the booth level.

"Congress leaders and workers are doing a door-to-door campaign to meet the voters and seek their blessings for our candidate Palvai Sravanthi. However, we are getting disturbing reports that leaders of both the TRS and the BJP leaders are offering huge money and liquor to lure the voters," he said.

He alleged that the TRS and the BJP had gotten habituated to dismantling the democratic norms by influencing the voters with money or by purchasing elected representatives to disregard the people's verdict.

"The people of Munugode had voted for the Congress in the 2018 Assembly elections. Now the local MLA, Rajagopal Reddy, switched over to the BJP. Both the TRS and the BJP leaders know that the people will repeat the 2018 result and vote for the Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi. So instead of allowing the people to exercise their free will, the TRS and BJP leaders are trying to influence them using huge amounts of money and liquor," he claimed.

Reddy expressed serious concern over the "erosion of morals" in politics due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

"KCR has engineered the defection of over three dozen MLAs and MLCs from the opposition parties to the TRS since 2014. Similarly, PM Modi has toppled the elected governments of opposition parties in many States, and Operation Lotus appears to be his only priority. Unfortunately, they are using the same tactics for the Munugode by-election," he alleged.

The Congress MP said that the party would continue to expose the "immoral and unethical politics" of the TRS and the BJP, and would gain the support of the Munugode voters the right way.

"The Congress is getting tremendous response from the Munugode voters. We will not only win the by-election, the winning margin will be much higher compared to that of 2018. The people of Munugode will neither be influenced by money or liquor nor get intimidated by the threats of the TRS and the BJP," he said.

Earlier, Reddy paid rich tributes to Congress leader Chinna Mallaiah. He said that Mallaiah had devoted his entire life to the service of the people and the Congress. Leaders like Mallaiah would continue to motivate all Congress members, and needed to be emulated for the morals and ethics that they believed in, he said.

"We need to learn a lot from leaders like Chinna Mallaiah who lived and died with one ideology and never compromised on their ideals under any circumstances," he said.
