The Ministry Of Railways has decided to ignore the 3-day rail roko call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee, and operate all its services.
The TJAC had called for a Rail Roko on 9, 10 and 11 October.
Talking to reporters at Kadiri, Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa said that train services will be operated amidst police protection. He said that elaborate security arrangements will be made to ensure the safety of both passengers and Railway properties.
"The agitation might be important for the people of Telangana, but for me, not causing inconvenience to passengers is more important," Muniyappa said.
He also advised the T-JAC to withdraw the rail roko call.
The minister also announced that the new train services for Andhra Pradesh, which were announced in the 2011-12 Union Railway Budget, will be launched soon. He said he would try to start at least 2 trains via Kadiri in Anantapur district.
Earlier, Muniyappa, along with his family, performed a pooja at the famous Srikadiri Laxminarayana Temple on the occasion of Dussehra. (INN)
