Hyderabad Traffic Police Additional Commissioner Vishwa Prasad today said that the scheme offering discounts for payment of pending traffic challans was getting a good response.
He said that there were 3 crore 59 lakh challans pending in Telangana, and that till date 77 lakh challans had been cleared, and Rs 67 crore had been collected.
"Pending challans amounts of Rs 18 crore in the Hyderabad commissionerate limits, Rs 14 crore in the Cyberabad commissionerate limits and Rs 7.15 crore in the Rachakonda commissionerate limits have been collected. A total of Rs 67 crore of pending challan amount has been collected in the State," he said.
He also said that there were no problems with the traffic challan website. "It has come to our notice through the social media that two fake challan websites exist. They were created by cyber criminals six months ago. We have lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police immediately. There is no need to panic as the fake websites do not have payment gateways," he said.
For the uninitiated, the Telangana government has announced huge discounts for motorists to encourage them to pay pending traffic challans. 80% off has been offered for bikes and autorickshaws, 90% for buses, and 60% for other vehicles. The scheme will be on offer till January 10.
