Traffic Police Collect Rs. 140 Crore In Discounted Penalty Scheme

The amnesty scheme launched by the Telangana traffic police wing is receiving overwhelming response from the traffic rule violators.

The amnesty scheme launched by the Telangana traffic police wing is receiving overwhelming response from the traffic rule violators.

The violators have cumulatively paid Rs. 140 crore as on March 15, 2022, for clearing the pending challans on their vehicles. According to the traffic police, 1,000 challans are being paid per minute.

80% of the Rs. 140 crore has been received from violators belonging to the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda police commissionerate areas.

The scheme will continue till March 31, 2022.

The traffic police target collecting Rs. 500 crore by the end of the month.

Joint CP of Hyderabad A V Ranganath said that the violators would have to again pay the total amount after the expiry of the amnesty / discount scheme.
