The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board's Executive Officer L V Subrahmanyam on Sunday stated that the board of trustees has decided not to give any special treatment to VIPs for the darshan of Lord Venkateshwara on New Year's Day, January 1.
Talking to media persons, the Executive Officer said that the Trustee Board has decided to allow Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other VIPs special darshan only if they come personally and inform the TTD of their decision to come, before 25 December.
He said that the Board has taken this decision in order to provide hassle-free darshan to all devotees on New Year's Day.
Subrahmanyam also said that all the VIP darshans on Vaikunta Ekadasi and Dwadasi days, on 5 and 6 January, have also been cancelled.
The Board has also decided to provide special darshan for 2,000 physically-challenged persons and senior citizens on Vaikunta Ekadasi and Dwadasi, he said.
He said that the Board has decided to establish 3 schools for hearing-impaired children, under the "Sravanam" project, in north coastal Andhra, south coastal Andhra and Telangana.
The schools are aimed at providing assistance to infants and children with hearing impairment, aged less than 5 years.
Under the project, the TTD provides them everything free of cost, including hearing equipment, food and training. Parents, particularly mothers, are also allowed to stay with their children during the treatment period. (INN)
