Three pumphouses of the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project were inaugurated in Bhadradri Kothagudem district today.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated the second pumphouse of the project at Pusugudem village, and unveiled the project pylon to mark the occasion.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy inaugurated the first pumphouse while Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka switched on the third pumphouse at Kamalapuram village of Mulakalapalli mandal in the district.
The Sitarama project is designed to irrigate 3.29 lakh acres of new ayakut and about 3.45 lakh acres of stabilization ayakut.
Speaking with the media later, the CM accused the previous BRS government of indulging in large-scale corruption in the name of redesigning the projects.
He alleged that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao never wanted to complete the projects, and did not give DPRs for any project in the last ten years.
"The BRS government spent Rs 1.80 lakh crore of public money during its tenure, but couldn't give a drop of water to the farmers. The family members of KCR destroyed the economy of Telangana. Both KCR and Harish Rao have lost credibility among the people, and they are like discontinued Rs 1,000 notes," he alleged.
He claimed that after the Congress government came to power in Telangana, priority was being given to pending projects of the Khammam district, and that they were all being completed in a phased manner.
