Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to stop creating obstacles to approvals for projects taken up on the Krishna river during the period of united Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking after inaugurating the Suzen Medicare fluid plant at Maheshwaram, the CM said that the government was against developing enmity with neighbouring States over water issues. He said that the State was already reeling under an economic burden due to the stoppage of fund releases by the Union government to Telangana, and called on all political parties to support his government in resolving water disputes amicably.
"Our first priority is to find solutions to water disputes and not to intensify conflicts with stakeholders. The Congress has no intention of gaining political advantage under the guise of water disputes," he said.
He said that his government accorded priority to safeguarding the interests of the people and farmers, and was ready to resolve water issues through dialogue in a friendly manner. He said that all problems could be resolved if the two States cooperated with each other.
Reddy also urged the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's cooperation for his government's proposal to develop port connectivity for Telangana.
"We are seeking mutual cooperation with all neighbouring States - Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu," he said.
