Law and Courts Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy, on Friday, informed the state Legislative Assembly that there has been a decrease in the number of cases pending in different courts across the state.
In his reply to a query raised by Lok Satta MLA Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan during question hour, the minister said that the pendency in state courts has decreased by 20,794 cases in the last two years.
While there were 945,737 cases pending in different courts about two years, the number was noted to be 924,943 by December 31, 2012.
The minister said that the government has sanctioned 84 new courts in various cadres, in addition to the existing regular courts, apart from making 36 Fast Track Courts a permanent feature to ensure speedy disposal of cases. (INN)
