Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday directed Collectors of the coastal districts and all other districts likely to be affected by the depression in the Bay of Bengal, to make all efforts in view of any eventuality that may arise.
The CM spoke to the District Collectors over phone, and asked the officials to take all precautions to prevent the loss of lives and property. He also asked them to ensure that the control rooms function on cyclone-related matters effectively.
Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the Collectors to ensure that adequate food stocks, drinking water sachets and emergency lamps/lights have been kept ready.
Medical and health department officials should be asked to stock sufficient quantities of essential medicines, and 108 and 104 medical ambulance services are to be kept ready for providing medical facilities and first-aid to the affected people, he said.
The CM asked the Collectors to ensure that all essential commodities, like food grains, kerosene and bleaching powder, have been stocked.
Authorities of BSNL have also been asked to be on alert and ensure that communication systems do not affected.
Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Power and R&B authorities have also been asked to gear up. (INN)
