Kanna Admits To Lapses In Compensation To Farmers
Kanna said that several loopholes were identified in the payment of compensation to horticulture farmers, hit by cyclones.

Agriculture minister Kanna Lakshminarayana on Sunday admitted to "lapses in distribution of compensation" to farmers who were by the recent cyclones and heavy rains.
Speaking to media persons at Palakollu of West Godavari district, Kanna said that several loopholes were identified in the payment of compensation to horticulture farmers, hit by cyclones.
However, he said that immediate steps have been taken to plug the loopholes, and to help the affected farmers.
He also announced that the state government would increase the compensation sanctioned to the cyclone-hit farmers.
Besides hastening the process of payment of input subsidy to the farmers hit by cyclone Neelam, immediate measures will be taken to provide assistance to the farmers hit by the recent cyclone Helen.
He also announced that the salt farmers would be paid compensation.
He added that the process of enumeration of losses was still on, and a decision on payment of compensation will be taken after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy visits the affected areas in a day or two. (INN)
