CM Reviews Preparedness For Cyclone Helen

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy reviewed the status of preparedness by the state administration for the impending cyclone Helen.
Rescue and relief operations, and evacuation from low-lying areas were also discussed with Chief Secretary Dr. P K Mohanty and the District Collectors of Krishna, West Godavari and Guntur districts, over phone, on the morning of Friday.
Kiran Kumar Reddy has reportedly directed the Chief Secretary to closely monitor the situation by being in correspondence with the Collectors, as the severity of the cyclone is expected to be on the higher side.
He has also directed them to be on a high alert and ready to face any eventuality.
He also enquired about the evacuation of people from low-lying areas and the setting up of relief camps, and asked the officials to coordinate with the NDRF, police, fire and emergency, medical and agriculture departments, to carry out relief operations.
Kiran Kumar Reddy also directed the Chief Secretary to take the help of the Army, Navy and Air Force, if necessary.
The Chief Minister spoke to the District Collector of East Godavari, and directed P K Mohanty to send a coast guard ship with a helicopter to rescue 20 fishermen with 3 boats, who are reportedly on sea, near the Kothapally light house. (INN)
