Tension Grips Medaram As Adivasis Attack Lambadas

Adivasis attacked the vehicles of Lambadas who were coming to be sworn in as members of the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Temple Committee.

Tension prevailed for some time when Adivasis attacked the vehicles of Lambadas who were coming to be sworn in as members of the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Temple Committee.

On Thursday, newly appointed Medaram Temple Committee members were to be sworn in at a program. Of the 11 members, two were Lambadas, including Tourism Minister Ajmira Chandulal's son Prahlad. However, when the appointees were driving to the venue be the sworn in, the Adivasis attacked them, and among the various acts of violence destroyed the glass panes of Prahlad's car.

The irate Adivasis also torched the ITDA office in which files and furniture were reduced to ashes. On receiving the information, Mulugu DSP Raghavendra Reddy rushed to the spot and held talks with the Adivasis to defuse the situation. The Adivasis demanded that the government remove the two Lambadas from the temple committee.
