Demanding immediate clearance for the release of the controversial movie "Sharanam Gachchami", activists of the OU JAC, TS JAC and Scheduled Caste Telangana Students' Union today stormed the regional office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and ransacked the furniture and files.
The protesters alleged that the CBFC officials were deliberately refusing to give clearance for the movie's release.
They vandalized furniture, tore files and broke glass panes in the office.
On receipt of the information, the Gandhi Nagar police rushed to the spot and whisked the protesters away to the police station.
It may be mentioned here that "Sharanam Gachchami", a film directed by Enumula Prem Raj of Warangal under the Bommaku Productions banner, was sent to the CBFC regional office at Kavadiguda for clearance in the first week of January. However, the board allegedly refused to issue the certificate required for its public exhibition, even though the director consented to make the necessary changes to the movie.
