The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Tuesday called for a day-long bandh of wine shops in the region, demanding statehood for Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at Somajiguda Press Club on Tuesday, TP-JAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram appealed to all wine shop dealers to shut their shops for a day to express support for the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme.
Wine shop retailers of Ranga Reddy district and the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad have agreed to enforce the bandh, and have announced that all wine shops will remain closed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Kodandaram clarified that the Sakala Janula Samme, the general strike, which entered its 36th day on Tuesday, has not been called off. The Telangana agitation is being expanded by getting more sections involves, he added. (INN)
