Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof. M Kodandaram on Monday took serious objection to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy attributing the power shortage in the state to the ongoing employees' general strike.
Talking to media persons, Kodandaram alleged that the Chief Minister was making false statements on the power situation in the state, and that he was unwarrantedly linking the power shortage to the general strike.
He said that the Chief Minister was doing so cover up his inefficiency and incapability in handling the situation. He challenged the CM to an open discussion on the power crisis.
Kodandaram demanded to know from the CM how much power was purchased this year and last year to meet consumers' needs.
Although many private firms are generating power in the state, the government has been encouraging them to sell them in other states, instead of buying from them, he alleged. He wanted to know why the government did not take alternative measures after the strike notice was served. (INN)
