The Telangana government today took a key decision to start a special vaccination drive for super spreaders.
This decision is intended to help control the spread of the coronavirus cases in the state.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao announced this decision.
The government has categorized super spreaders into 25 groups, and has identified about 25 lakh super spreaders in the state, who will get vaccinated in a phased manner.
The super spreaders to be vaccinated include: auto, cab, trolley and bus drivers; restaurant, hotel and kirana shop workers; milk and paper delivery boys; others selling essential commodities; street hawkers, road side traders and others involved in street-side selling; and others as decided by the government.
The minister instructed the Chief Secretary and health officials to quickly identify all members of the groups above and ensure that they get vaccinated.
The government will vaccinate super spreaders in the GHMC area first.
