Telangana CM Revanth Reddy today announced that the Nandi awards would be reinstated, and would henceforth be presented in the name of the late balladeer.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that the State government would reinstate the Nandi awards, and that the awards would henceforth be presented in the name of the late balladeer Gaddar on his birth anniversary.
Taking part in the birth anniversary celebrations of the revolutionary singer at Ravindra Bharathi, the CM said that Gaddar had worked his entire life for the rights of the oppressed sections through his songs and other cultural performances.
"In a bid to recognise his services and to etch his name in history forever, I have taken this decision to present the Nandi awards in the name of Gaddar from now," Reddy said.
The Chief Minister said that his statement should be considered as a GO reinstating the awards in the name of the balladeer.
He also said that the proposal to set up a statue of Gaddar on the Tank Bund would be considered, and a decision taken after a discussion in a cabinet meeting.
