Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore for playback singer Rahul Sipligunj, fulfilling a promise made earlier to the singer.
The announcement was made during the Bonalu celebrations in Hyderabad.
At an event held before the last elections, Reddy, then serving as the TPCC president, had pledged financial support of Rs 10 lakh to Sipligunj, and said that he would award Rs 1 crore to him if the Congress came to power.
During the recent Gaddar Awards, the Chief Minister once again mentioned Sipligunj's achievements, and indicated that an official government announcement on an award to him would follow.
This commitment was formally honoured today during the Bonalu celebrations.
Rahul's inspiring journey began in the Old City and led to international recognition with the song Naatu Naatu from the film
RRR, which earned global acclaim, including a performance at the Oscars. Highlighting his achievements, Reddy hailed him as a trailblazer for the youth of Telangana.
