Telangana will collaborate with Estonia, a country globally recognised for its leadership in digital governance and healthcare digitisation, to enhance the State's initiatives in e-governance and the delivery of digital public services.
Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu today announced the partnership following a meeting with Estonia's Ambassador to India Marje Luup and a high-level trade delegation, at the Secretariat.
As per reports, the Estonian delegation included experts and representatives from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Healthcare sectors. The discussions explored mutual interests and potential areas of collaboration, particularly in public service reforms and emerging technologies.
Commending Estonia for achieving 100% digitisation of health records and its advanced digital infrastructure, Babu said that Telangana aimed to draw upon that country's experience and technical expertise.
"Estonia's success in e-governance and digital health is truly inspiring. Telangana, which is still in the early stages of health data digitisation, seeks to partner with Estonia to accelerate progress in this domain. E-governance plays a vital role in delivering transparent and efficient public services. Estonia's collaboration can be instrumental in enhancing our systems," the minister said.
Babu also spoke about the growing importance of cybersecurity, and said, "As we digitise services, safeguarding them becomes equally critical. Cybersecurity is an area where mutual cooperation with Estonia is essential."
Speaking on the State's technological capabilities, the minister said that Telangana had made significant progress in drone development. "Drones manufactured in Hyderabad have demonstrated their strategic value in recent conflicts, including operations involving Pakistan. Future conflicts will also be defined by drone warfare and cyberattacks," he said.
Babu also spoke of Telangana's leadership in food processing and premium liquor manufacturing, and proposed further cooperation with Estonia in these sectors as well.
Responding positively to Ambassador Luup's invitation to visit Estonia in September, the minister confirmed that a delegation of senior officials from Telangana would travel to Estonia.
"Our team will engage in detailed discussions on collaboration in education, e-governance, AI and robotics," he said.
