Telangana TDP leaders were placed under a virtual house arrest today with a large deployment of security personnel around them.
The TTDP had planned a dharna near Pragati Bhavan, the CM's camp office, protesting the arrest of TDP farmer cell state president Onteru Pratap Reddy. However, as a precautionary measure, the police arrested TDP state party president L Ramana, and deployed forces near the residences of politburo members Motkupalli Narasimhulu, Ravula Chandrasekar Reddy, Revuri Prakash Reddy, E Peddireddy and M N Srinivas.
Speaking to the media, Tulla Virender Goud, president of Telangana Telugu Youth, alleged that the police had arrested the party leaders and held them at their respective homes despite their having planned the protest in a peaceful manner. He said that just as he himself was also about to leave his residence along with his followers to go to the TDP office, the cops arrived and informed them that they had been denied police permission, and prevented them from proceeding further.
Goud and his supporters raised anti-CM slogans and squatted in front of their houses in protest against the police action.
Later, Goud was arrested by the cops after a verbal spat, and shifted to the Banjara Hills police station. He alleged that the police action was reminiscent of the Nizam's rule, and that people of Telangana must teach a fitting reply to the TRS government in the next elections.
