TDP leader, and former municipal councillor of Jangaon's Ward no 10, Puli Swamy was brutally murdered in Jangaon today, 85 kilometres away from Hyderabad.
The 53-year-old was reportedly axed to death by two unidentified assailants near the Social Welfare Residential School on the Warangal highway while he was out on a morning walk.
According to the details revealed by Jangaon ACP Vinod Kumar, Swamy was chased by the two miscreants while he was going towards Hanamkonda Road on his walk.
"The miscreants attacked Swamy and wounded him fatally. He then succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The attackers abandoned their motorcycle at the spot of the crime and fled without it as it failed to start. We are currently trying to trace the owner of the vehicle," the ACP said.
"CI Mallesh and I reached the spot and inspected the body of the victim. Following this, we have come to the preliminary conclusion that the victim was murdered, and have formed special teams who are already searching for those responsible for the heinous attack. We are confident that the killers will be caught soon," he added.
Many sources claim that the murder was the result of Swamy's involvement in a land dispute. A local court had ruled in his favour in a hearing on the matter on Wednesday. This was what led many to believe that his death might have been linked to the dispute
