Rajya Sabha MP and Congress senior leader Palwai Govardhan, on Tuesday, claimed that the Centre has completed the study of Telangana's demands, and that it would announce its decision soon.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office, Govardhan said that the Centre has completed the studies on water-sharing, and on the demarcation of borders and its viability. He claimed that the Centre might announce its decision soon after studying other factors.
He also dismissed media reports that Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde
had hinted at delays on the Telangana decision. He said that a section of the media had "twisted" the Home Minister's statement, and that he was largely misquoted.
Congress MLCs Yadav Reddy and K R Amos alleged that some contractors of the Seemandhra region were trying to dictate politics. However, they said that the Centre has already taken a decision on the statehood issue, and that it would soon make an announcement in this regard. (INN)
