Peddapalli MP Dr. G Vivek, on Tuesday, called on Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, to submit a report against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's alleged "propaganda" against the Telangana movement.
According to sources, Vivek reportedly told Shinde that the Chief Minister was trying to create a false impression that the formation of a Telangana state would breed Naxalism.
Stating that Maoists were more active in the Seemandhra region, Vivek reportedly cited the example of an attack on former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu near Tirupati. He feared that denial of statehood for the Telangana region, in fact, would increase Naxalism in Telangana.
Vivek also told the Home Minister that the Telangana movement has been "completely peaceful", and that there was not a single attack on the assets of Seemandhra people.
Talking to reporters later, Vivek expressed confidence that the Telangana Bill would be introduced in the next session of Parliament. He also denied reports of him re-joining the Congress. (INN)
